This friend came to me while I was recovering from my hysterectomy in 2012. I was feeling a little discouraged and sad because of the state I was in and because of things that were happening around me. As I was pondering one evening, an idea came to my mind that filled me with such happiness that I just could not keep it to myself.
"Being on bed rest allows one to have lots of time to ponder.
It's kind of nice until really tragic and upsetting things happen and then all you can do is think about those things and feel sad.
It would be easy to allow myself to get caught up in these sad feelings; to spend all day online, reading news stories, Facebook posts, looking at images that tear your heart to pieces. But I don't want to spend my days being sad or angry or frustrated because bad things happen.
They always have and they always will. It's part of life...We can't waste too many precious life moments by worrying and wondering, "Why?" It will drive you crazy.
We have to, instead, look for ways that we can spread goodness and love.
This world is in desperate need of people who are willing to
We need to marinate ourselves, our families, our friends, neighbors, colleagues, enemies...in love.
We will still have moments of heartache and sorrow, but if we can counteract those moments with so many more sweet moments of love and kindness, our souls will be empowered. We will be able to withstand each crushing blow because we will be stronger. And because we are stronger, we will be able to help those who are not yet strong."
As I reintroduce this little project (with one minor adjustment...#SMILESproject), my hope is that it will hit the ground running. I dream of it being shared and shared again in all forms of social media. I want to flood the earth with people posting pictures and telling us about the sweet moments in their lives. We can gain strength from each other as we share the sweet moments that life can bring.
So...are you with me? Can you commit to recognizing the sweet moments that happen in your life? Are you willing to step up your efforts in creating sweet moments for other people? I hope so. I also hope that you will share this post and share the sweet moments in life that empower your soul! As we share with each other we will be stronger and we will be happier. It will be a beautiful thing indeed. xoxo
