"So much time
and so little to do!
Strike that, reverse it!"
I have learned SO many things over the past several weeks that it would be impossible for me to write in depth about all of them. Instead, I'm going to give you the condensed, "play-by-play" version.
From my Religion Class:
*Faith is not to have a perfect knowledge of things. If you consistently feel the need to ask God for signs, then you are not exercising faith.
*In order to have faith you must be meek and lowly of heart.
*Some of the blessings that come from exercising faith in Christ include (but are not limited to): being filled with joy, recognizing truth, having the daily ministering of angels and a hope for deliverance from our trials and afflictions.
*We cannot be saved IN our sins because "no unclean thing can inherit God's kingdom & dwell with Him." (Alma 11:32-40)
*If Alma the Younger can repent of his sins and become clean in God's eyes, then it is possible for ANYONE to repent and become clean in God's eyes. (Mosiah 27:8-33, Alma 36:5-26)
*In order to qualify for baptism and keep the covenant made at baptism we need to:
Have a desire to be baptized.
Be willing to bear one another's burdens.
Always stand as a witness of God.
Serve God and keep His commandments.
My advice to someone who is trying to make the Sacrament a more meaningful part of their own lives:
FOCUS ON THE SAVIOR.
Prepare for sacrament meeting by studying your scriptures and asking the Lord what you, personally, need to do to have a more meaningful experience and then take time to LISTEN for the answer. Come before the Lord with a broken heart, a contrite spirit, and an open mind so that you can receive His guidance and counsel. Ask the Lord, "What Lack I Yet?" and know that the answer may not be something you want to hear, but it will be exactly what you need to improve upon so that you can be closer to the Savior.
"One of the purposes of the Book of Mormon is to show...'what great things the Lord hath done' for us. These 'great things' include the divine assistance, strength, and tender mercies that individuals receive through the strengthening & enabling power of Jesus Christ." -from my lesson worksheet :)
*Are you willing to engage in an on-going spiritual wrestle? That's what is takes to gain answers to questions about the gospel.
Here is the formula for "spiritual wrestling":
2. Search the scriptures
3. Study the words of the prophets
4. Ponder about your questions in the temple
*"Questions are not just good--they are vital." -Sheri Dew "Will You Engage in the Wrestle?"
From my General Studies Class:
*A choice involves making a conscious decision. To make an intelligent decision you need to evaluate all available facts on both sides of an issue. Then you involve prayer & inspiration.
*Set S.M.A.R.T. goals
*By writing down your goals you are 43% more likely to accomplish them.
"Just do the best you can each day."
-M. Russell Ballard
*We are stewards of our time.
*We will be held accountable for how we use our time.
*It comes down to two choices. We can either:
1. Spend Time or
2. Invest Time
*It is not enough to do things. We must do the right things--the things our Heavenly Father would want us to do.
*"Truth is still truth even if know one believes it."
*"Truth is His gospel. The gospel of Jesus Christ."
*"Spare no efforts in your search to know the truth."
-Dieter F. Uchtdorf "What is Truth?"
