As I was pondering about random things, I had the realization that each blog post that I have written will eventually be read by each of my children and quite possibly my grandchildren and great grandchildren. So while I hope that my posts are inspiring friends and family today, my real goal in this adventure with writing is to leave something beautiful for my family to enjoy for years to come. This definitely changes how I look at each post.
It is very easy to get caught up in the numbers game.
How many people have looked at this post?
How many comments do I have?
How many people have "liked" it?
In each of these cases, the numbers are never very high and that can be discouraging when I allow myself to care about it.
Be that as it may, after my moment of clarity, I think I am going to find myself caring about it even less.
And with that said, I would like to write a little note to my kiddos on this beautiful Mother's Day morning.
To My Son:
You were the start of it all. You made me a mother and I knew that my life would never be the same again. I could not wait for you to be born and yet, when the moment arrived, I was scared to death. What was I getting myself into? The moment I heard you cry however, that feeling of fear was quickly replaced by a powerful feeling of love and joy. I had no clue of what I was going to do with this wiggly little man, but I knew that I would figure it out.
I hope that you know how much I love being your mother. I hope that as you continue to grow and prepare yourself to enter the grown up world, you remember how much your mommy loves you. I will always be here for you.
A few pieces of advice:
*Always be respectful of women. Treat them with kindness, even, and especially when, they drive you crazy with their emotional outbursts.
*Never forget that you are a son of Heavenly parents and that they love you more than you can ever imagine.
*Follow your heart and it will never steer you wrong.
My prayer and hope today is the same as it was then; I am just trying my best to not wreck this beautiful soul that God has created. I am so lucky that God gave me you. You are amazing.
To My Beautiful Daughters:
You always have been and you always will be beautiful, inside and out. Never, ever forget that.
I don't know why Heavenly Father blessed me with your three amazing souls, but I thank Him for each of you every single day.
I love that you are each unique. You have different personalities, different talents, and different ways of teaching me how to love and be patient. I consider it an honor to be given the opportunity to help you discover what it means to be a Daughter of a Heavenly King.
Some things that I want you to know about being a mother:
*It is the hardest job in the world. Don't let anyone tell you differently.
*It is the BEST job in the world. Don't let anyone tell you differently.
*I don't know what the future holds for you. My hope and prayer is that you will each have the opportunity to welcome children into this world. But I want you to know that if that is not a part of God's plan for you while you are here on earth, that will be perfectly fine and it will not make you any less of a woman or a mother. I firmly believe that if you hold that righteous desire to be a mother firmly in your heart, you will be blessed with that opportunity, even if it is in the next life and throughout eternity.
*You are going to do amazing things because you are amazing women. Yes, I said women even though you are still girls. We are all women of God, regardless of our age, and He has wonderful things in store for you because you are His daughters.
They are my heart, my life, my everything and they are mine forever, because of my Savior, Jesus Christ.
Happy Mother's Day everyone. :)
