Today's song takes me back to my youth. My mom is a Christmas music fanatic, as in, she is one of those people who starts listening to it shortly after Halloween. I love that about her and I feel that it instilled in me this great love of Christmas music.
Our home was filled with The Beach Boys, John Denver and the Muppets, and The Carpenters to name a few. Every time I hear a song from these artists, I am instantly transported back in time.
The song I have chosen for today is one by the Carpenters and how happy was I to find a great little video on YouTube of the Carpenters performing it. It made me smile. It also made me remember the many times that I would play this song over and over again, practicing my "routine." I would turn the song on and then hurry into the hallway so my audience couldn't see me. There is a great build up of music at the beginning of the song and I would imagine the audience sitting on the edge of their seats, waiting for my entrance. As soon as Ms. Carpenter started singing, "Sleigh...bells...ring...", I would burst into the living room, singing right along with her. My imaginary audience went hysterical as I glided across the living room floor in time to the music. Ahh, those were the days.
And now, enjoy a little bit of Christmas magic with The Carpenters singing their Christmas Medley song.
I am loving my second chance at life.
