Can I just stop to tell you how much I love this new blog series? This whole week I have been downright giddy as I have thought about all of the beautiful and inspiring songs I will be able to share with you.
Today's song is one that I have heard recorded by several people and I have loved every single version. I was hoping to find a video of Mercy River singing it because theirs is the version I listen to the most. However, YouTube had something even better in store for me.
The song, "Blessings" was written by Laura Story. The lyrics have always pierced my heart deeply because they hit very close to home. I have had many times in my life when I have had to look at my circumstances and say, "This is not how I planned it!" I know that everyone has had an experience or two like that. It is in those moments when we really have two choices: We can continue in the misery of the situation and scream to God, "Where are you?!? Do you not see what is happening here? How could you let this happen to me?"
Or, we can push forward with hope and faith and look for the blessings among the misery. There truly is a silver lining in each and every dark cloud, but we have to be willing to search for it.
Here's the "something better in store" that I found after listening to the song.
I love hearing how people receive inspiration from God. Every single person who has been, is, and will be born on this earth has the power to pray to God and the right to receive personal revelation from Him. What an amazing gift to us, His children.
I leave you with my testimony of God, our loving Heavenly Father.
He is real.
He loves us.
He pours down his blessings upon us, even in times of hardship and sorrow.
He sent His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to atone for our sins and make it possible for us to return to live with Him again.
I am loving my second chance at life.
