It has been an interesting week.
I have had the opportunity to study the Atonement and the Savior's last days this week. I had a ton of reading assignments for my religion class and I wondered how I would be able to get it all done with all of the other things that go on in my normal mom life schedule.
But I was determined to read all the material and spend some time pondering the things that I read.
Studying these events in depth was a great blessing in my life this week.
I should study the Atonement every week.
What was the difference?
But this week...this week was different. Because I was reading and pondering about the Savior nearly every moment that I wasn't fulfilling mom/teacher/wife/writer responsibilities, I wasn't even tempted to give in to those distractions. That's not to say that I didn't watch TV at all or look on Facebook/Instagram, but they weren't my "time fillers" this week. They were my "winding down before bed for a few minutes" activities.
Yes, I should really study the Atonement every week.
Jesus, the Very Thought of Thee- Kenneth Cope
- 1. Jesus, the very thought of thee
With sweetness fills my breast;
But sweeter far thy face to see
And in thy presence rest.
- 2. Nor voice can sing, nor heart can frame,
Nor can the mem'ry find
A sweeter sound than thy blest name,
O Savior of mankind!
- 3. O hope of ev'ry contrite heart,
O joy of all the meek,
To those who fall, how kind thou art!
How good to those who seek!
- 4. Jesus, our only joy be thou,
As thou our prize wilt be;
Jesus, be thou our glory now,
And thru eternity.
