This semester I took a class entitled, "Teachings of the Living Prophets". Guys...did you know that we have a living prophet here, on the earth today? A man who is called of God, just like Moses? It's true! I testify of that. I have had many personal, sacred experiences that have helped me to know that the Lord reveals His will to a living prophet today.
I also know that we have Apostles on the earth today who have the sacred obligation of testifying of the Savior Jesus Christ. Just like Paul and Peter during the time that the Savior was on the earth, we have ordinary men who have been called of God to do great and marvelous things.
QUOTES ON THE FAMILY
President M. Russell Ballard, October 2019 General Conference, "Giving Our Spirits Control over Our Bodies"
Brothers and sisters, please do not miss an opportunity to look into the eyes of your family members with love. Children and parents, reach out to each other and express your love and appreciation. Like me, some of you may wake up one day to discover that the time for such important communication has passed. Live each day together with hearts filled with gratitude, good memories, service, and much love" (para 8).
President Henry B. Eyring, April 2019 General Conference, "A Home Where the Spirit of the Lord Dwells"
There is a key to leading your family to rise to that spiritual place you want for them--and for you to be there with them. As you help them grow in faith that Jesus Christ is their loving Redeemer, they will feel a desire to repent. As they do, humility will begin to replace pride. As they begin to feel what the Lord has given them, they will want to share more generously. Rivalry for prominence or recognition will diminish. Hate will be driven out by love" (para 20).
Families are the basic organizational unit of the eternal realms, and so He intends for them also to be the basic unit on earth. Though earthly families are far from perfect, they give God's children the best chance to be welcomed to the world with the only love on earth that comes close to what we felt in heaven--parental love" (para 9).
In the beginning, there was a family…a huge, wonderful, beautiful family with Heavenly Parents. We are all part of that family and what a blessing having that knowledge is. We are also a part of earthly families and those wonderful units have the opportunity to live together forever. This can happen as covenants are made in the House of God, a Holy Temple. As those covenants are honored through a lifetime of service and devotion to God and to the family, the Lord offers us the promise that those family relationships will not end with death.
It is in our families that we have the greatest opportunity to learn how to love, how to serve, and how to emulate our Savior. We learn patience, gratitude, and long-suffering which enable us to become more like our Heavenly Parents and their Perfect Son. Though our families are not perfect, we can have perfect moments where the Spirit blesses us, and we can see beyond the trials and tribulations of this mortal life.
I am grateful that I have the promise of living with my little family forever. They mean everything to me, and I express my gratitude to God for allowing me the privilege of having these amazing people in my life.
I am loving my second chance at life.
