As promised on my Instagram account, (which is @desirae.ogden in case you are not already following me there) I will now share with you two videos that document the moments I shared with the first 125 copies of my book.
*Warning* These videos have extreme "this person takes awkward selfie's and video selfie's" written all over them. Proceed with caution...
Okay, two things:
#1. I really do not like watching videos of myself.
#2. I do and say weird things when I am excited. My apologies to you.
But all of the awkwardness aside, the best part about sharing the fact that I have 125 hardcover copies of my book is that...you can now purchase a hardcover (or iBooks) copy of my book. Yay!
Yes, I know that the original date I gave you was February 1st, and I am still planning on having a book signing/book launch party on that date. However, because I am a 'self-published has no idea what she is doing" author, I have had to change things up a bit from my original plans.
Let me share with you some things that I have learned on this self-publishing road:
a.) Self-publishing is not as easy as some people say it is. I knew that it was not going to be a walk in the park, but, I didn't anticipate just how difficult some aspects of it would be. There have been many hair-pulling out, fists slamming on desk moments.
b.) Because I know practically nothing of how the publishing world works, I have relied completely on faith and prayers. Which are both good things, but still leave me open to make lots of mistakes, which I then have to try and fix, which take time, and drive me crazy.
c.) My original plan was to have the book available on Amazon on February 1st. It still could happen, but there have been a couple of hiccups in that plan. I am trying to sort those out this week so that I can hopefully at least have a eBook up and running on Amazon by February 1st. For now, I do have an iBooks version available to by through Blurb.com. Click here if you are interested in purchasing that version.
d.) With all of the hiccups, fist slams, and hair pulled out, I have also confirmed in my mind and heart that I can indeed do hard things. Even if those hard things make you crazy from time to time.
Having said all of that, I now leave you with this...
The Time Has Come, My Friends.
If you have been waiting to purchase a hardcover copy, your wait is over (unless you would like to wait to buy one at the book signing events I have planned. Check out the EVENTS tab to learn more about those.)
I will also have paperbacks available after January 11th.
I just have one little request...
If you purchase a copy and decide that it is a book worth reading, can you please share it? I don't care how you do it- Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, Word of Mouth- I am good with whatever you are comfortable with. I just need help sharing it and getting it out there. One of my goals for this week is to have the book up on Good Reads as well. I will keep you posted on my progress with that and would LOVE it if you could write a good review for me there.
Once again, I say thank you to all to you, my family and friends. I would not be here without your love and encouragement.
Thank you. xoxo
I am loving my second chance at life.
